Here we go again on our annual road trip to east durham. This time around we're making a stop in Albany tomorrow night at the Irish American Center. The show starts at 8:30 and we're looking forward to a couple of pints with the great folks out in Albany. After Albany we're on the road again to one of our favorite pubs.....Darby's. Good food, good pints, and lots of random guys who play accordion, mandolin, etc. looking for the perfect opportunity to jump on stage for a tune or two. It should be a great time as always. Look forward to seeing you there.

Hello Everyone...it's been a while
Well, it's been a while I guess.
It's Andrew saying hello this time around. The last couple of months have been good ones...and busy ones.
We have finished our newest cd, it's being mastered as we speak. It's something else too...we're sure you'll like it. It's been a long time coming, in more ways than one. Glenn has been working his magic, and we couldn't be more pleased with what we've heard so far.
The shows...well, there been plenty of them. A huge thanks to all of you that continue to come out and support us...be it in a sold out concert hall up north (what a great night in Barneveld, NY) or in a million different nights in crazy packed CNY clubs/pubs/halls...we'd be nowhere without all of you.
We had a great March season, finishing things out to two days of standing room only crowds up in Watertown, NY...you north country folks really know how to make a band feel welcome! To those of you that didn't get a cd (sorry about the sold-out thing!) feel free to grab one here, or at www.cliudan.net. We are now back in stock.
Some big changes ahead, a whole new line of merch (it's NICE!), an electronic face-lift, and about every major fest in the N.E. on the schedule this year...2007 is shaping up nicely.
If you're out of your mind bored, or just mildly obsessed, take a look at the updated "history of cliudan" at www.cliudan.net. Also, a lot of cool new stuff going up there including, um, well you'll just have to wait.
Thanks so much to all of you, for everything!
andrew
February News, Shows, & Updates
If the month of January is any indication of what 2007 has in store for Cliudan, we're in for quite a great year. We began our 2007 schedule with a local show at Glory Days in Herkimer. Though the room was slow to fill in, by the end of our first set we had a great crowd in Herkimer all celebrating what was dubbed an "early pre-St. Patrick's Day Bash." Two days later we played a rowdy, standing room only show at Coleman's in Syracuse. The folks in Syracuse dildn't settle down until after calling us back for two encores! We ended the month at Kitty Hoynes in Syracuse which is always a great time as well as a great crowd. Our last show of January was in support of the Great American Irish Festival's "Half Way To G.A.I.F. Hooley." We played a supporting set for the Glengarry Bhoys to a large sold out crowd. January was good to us and we'd like to thank all of you who came out to support us last month. We will never forget you!
We have a limited schedule for the month of February as we've been doing some pre-production stuff for the new Cliudan cd. We'll be recording February 23rd through the 25th at a secret mountain bunker with Glen Forrester of Glengarry Bhoys/Greenwich Meantime fame. Look for the new cd in late March/early April!
For any of you who had tried to visit www.Cliudan.net and got an error message, we appologize. The site was down for nearly three weeks due to an internal problem with our provider. The site www.Cliudan.net is up and running now and will soon be getting a lot of updates as well as a secure online merchandise page, a page for venues/promoters as well as lots of new pictures.
Cliudan submissions will now be from a new submitter.
Andrew has been doing the Cliudan blogs since day one, and lately he has been bogged down with many other aspects of running the business known as Cliudan.
For those who don't know, I am John, the humble percussionist. I will be taking over the duties of submitting news and stories about Cliudan and our many. many, excellent adventures.
2007 promises to be a busy year for the band. We will be recording a new cd in February, and we are currently booking gigs all over the northeast into next December. The cd is being recorded and produced by no other than Glen Forrester of Glengarry Bhoys fame. Glen will be sending the recordings down to Texas for mastering. The man doing the mastering also works with a little ole band from Texas known as ZZ-Top!
If you like what you see and hear on our website and myspace page, please consider subscribing to our blog. We may soon be playing a festival or pub near you!
Feel free to comment and message the Cliudan page often. Also, tell your friends that if they don't add Cliudan to their friend list they don't love themselves.
All the best in 2007!
John G.
Hello Everyone,
It's been a little while I guess. We've all been just crazy busy between buying a few houses (Noah, Paddy, and Andrew), adding another child to the Cliudan family (big congrats to Paddy and Heidi, and keeping up with shows and too many day jobs.
Friday 11/10 we played a great little show in the most intimate little room we've ever played...the nice little folk club of sorts attached to an amazingly eclectic vintage and indy music store...the opening act was solid, the crowd very recepctive and the coffee beyond compare. A great thanks to the Melodic Revolution and the lovely owners/managers/coffee makers/booking agents/and general masters of the known universe nick and jennifer...love you guys!
First off, a big apology to all the folks that came out to see us in Scranton only to find someone else on stage...trust us, we were as surprised as all of you. It made for a very wasted trip on our part, and on many of your parts...not to mention a grouchy 6 hours of driving for us.
We'll make it up to you next time, though it won't be at the Banshee. It's a lovely venue, and you are all great people...we've enjoyed the stay and meeting you all though we've decided to cancel further bookings with the Banshee and hope that you all understand. All of you PA folks that have enjoyed our stay down in the Keystone State, drop us a line if there's a venue you might like to see us at. Seriously...if you've got a place in mind that's a good fit for our acoustacelt sound let us know...we're listening.
As we firm up '07 and beyond we will be down your way...somewhere. Details to come.
We were back on Tipp Hill in Syracuse at the one and only Coleman's 11/12...it was a great way to lift our collective spirits and attitudes after the night before...as always the crowd, staff and hospitality proved to be beyond compare...THANKS FOLKS! It's great what a small world it can be...had a nice chat with the fella that used to handle tour sound for Old Blind Dogs...great chat and what a nice mandolin the fella had...come around again and tell us a few more stories!
11/18 in Albany with GMT may have been one of our most anticipated shows in sometime...we love the Captial District and LOVE GMT...great friends of ours from across the border.
It was a packed house, and a great show for all of us. A huge thanks to Steve Downs, the Nelligans, and all the great folks that help make the FFAI concert one of our favorite shows each year!
Shows with GMT are always a blast...good times, good folks, good stories, and a few beers. Always a pleasure guys, do it again anytime!
Hey Laurie...thanks for coming, hanging out, and being such a great friend and great sport!
And...to Glenn Forrester...the man with the plan and the magic behind the board...THANKS FOR EVERYTHING!
see you all soon.
Hello all...A quick little update from us before we take off a little time to start on some new stuff and begin scratch tracks for our next CD.
Andrew was out in Rochester, NY on Friday and early Saturday spending a little time with flute phenom Grey Larsen. Grey played a great show with the New England based singer/songwriter Cindy Kallet on Friday night with Grey making really light work with of the flowing and ornamented brilliance on flute that he is so well known for. Andrew spent Saturday morning in workshop with Grey, just hoping some of the brilliance might rub off.
Saturday night at the Devereux in Utica, NY was an amazing time... our first show back in Utica proper in nearly a year. A great crowd the whole night...thanks to all of you that came out, and a special thanks to you early-birds that suffered through one of the most painful soundchecks in history...gotta love house sound sometimes!
Sunday at the one and only Coleman's on Tipp Hill in Syracuse, NY. The early crowd was a bit lean but it filled in very nicely half-way through our first set and stayed strong the rest of the night. As always, thanks so much to all of you for coming out. It's always so great to see the familiar friendly faces, as well as you folks that are new to us...hope to see you all again soon. Before saying goodbye...just want to say that it's INCREDIBLE to see so many of you singing along to our songs...material that you only could have heard from us...I NEVER thought I'd see people singing along to Hey Paddy...it was a scrapped C. Moore demo for God's sake!!!...it's so amazing to know that you're not only listening out there but really taking it in and making it a part of your own musical self.
See you all soon...THANKS!
Another great night down at the Banshee in Scranton, PA... a HUGE thanks to all of you that made it out for the show. The weather held for the trip, no freezing rain or the like, and a late night stop at the one and only Sheets on the way home. Johnny remain perpetually thrilled by the enormous "soda bar that even has Sobe energy drink on draft" while the rest of us are simply taken by the novelty of hot food on demand at one in the morning. Thanks Sheetz...we couldn't do it without you!
The upcoming weekend promises to be a great time. Andrew is out in Rochester for a show Friday and then a workshop with the one and only Grey Larsen on Saturday morning before heading back to THE DEVEREUX in Utica, NY for our Saturday night show. It'll be our first show back in Utica proper in very nearly a year...and at the Dev to boot which is one of our all time faves. Sunday out in Syracuse at Coleman's up on Tipp Hill...always a blast...see you soon!
It's been a nice little planned break for all of us these last few weeks. After the big fest season finale that is September, we played a small private show for some dear friends of the band and then took a couple of weeks off to spend with family and resting up. We even got together and worked some new tunes that'll be turning up at shows very soon. The Yanks are out, Johnny caught a few BoSox games, Noah took some time off in the woods, Paddy caught up with friends and family and Andrew bought a baritone uke, forgot to get a haircut, and forgot plenty of other things while he was at it.
First off...a HUGE thank you to all of you that we're so understanding about the cancelled shows last week. A death in the family made for a difficult time...thanks again for understanding.
Backtracking a bit...The Banshee down in Scranton was an exceptional time, as always...and one hell of a warm up for the next day in Rochester. I huge thanks to all you great foks in PA that continue to come out and support us. A long, drowsy ride to Syracuse, then off to Rochester in the morning. To all of you that were at the Rochester Irish festival...THANKS! For those of you that missed it...it was a great event. We had a great time and hope you did as well.
Last weekend we played the one and only Irish 2000 in Altamont, NY. The crowd, hospitality and event organization was amazing. A HUGE THANKS TO ALL OF YOU! We had a blast on stage and off, stayed up a bit past our bedtimes, caught the one and only Doogie McLean, some drinks with our friends from Greenwhich Meantime and The Highland Rovers Band (great sets out of both of them as well!) and then wandered about the grounds with the crazy sound guy from Dublin City Ramblers...it was a nice night of friends and music.
As always, thanks to all of you!
See you all soon!
4 shows, 4 nights...
Just finished up a nice little run of 4 in 4...Friday at Pickled Pig in New Hartford, Saturday at Darby's down in the Catskills, Sunday at the Hooley on the Hudson in Kingston, Monday at Lock 20 in Marcy.
All in all a great weekend of music despite the weather, and a rather dissapointing show in Kingston...
Our sincere apologies to so many of you that made the trip to the Hooley on the Hudson to see us play...the three and-a-half songs we got through before the stage power cut out was hardly worth the trip for all of you...we would of course have been happy to come back on and play out the set but stage management had lost time all day and decided that playing catch up by nicking the remainder of our set was the best way to go about things...well, live and learn i guess. In any event, and again, our SINCERE apologies for what was a disspointing and embarrassing excuse of a show...for those of you that were there last year, you'll remember the stage also lost power towards the end of our set in '05.
In any event, we wish the Hooley on the Hudson luck in the future...
Monday on the Lock was a great day, if shy on attendance. The rain kept the crowds down at this annual outdoor show of ours...a big thanks to so many of you that did brave the rain and chill.
This weekend is approaching quickly. We'll be on the road again, with stops in Scranton, PA and Syracuse, NY. Next week finds us in New Hartford, Utica, Albany, and Rochester...
See you all soon...somewhere!
It's been a while...
A couple of great shows the last couple of weeks in Syracuse, CNY, and PA. Thanks so much to all of you that have been out to support us, it really does mean a great deal to us. The new album has been going very well for us with a great response from all of you that have picked it up.
We continue, as always, with this music that we love...really just doing our best to pay respect to all the great musicians that have come before us. One of the greatest things for us, realizing all too well that a great deal of what we play is out of the mainstream and perhaps even obscure, is to see people singing along to these songs...knowing that you've somehow helped to pass along these great stories and tunes. We were down at the Banshee in Scranton (just an amazing time as always) two nights ago...we've been playing down there quite a bit over the past 9 months...and towards the end of the night a young couple came in, had a seat, and she must have known about every word to everything we played...a lot of it stuff that very few people do. It was great to feel like maybe somehow you've passed on that music, even if to only one person.
We just played a show were some folks from Newfoundland had came around...and it was great to see that they new a good number of our tunes. They had some different names for them but the same words...they took a cd home to Newfoundland...I've been meaning to get out there myself...
Atlantic Canadian tour anyone? It's on the horizon for '07...wanna go?
Just a wicked run coming up here in the next month...something like 10 shows in two weeks...which is enough for sure when we're all just a bunch of working stiffs. We always look forward to this time of year though...some great festivals that we love playing...they're about the only time we get a chance to come across other bands that are friends of ours, play a show, catch some shows, tell some stories and relax.
cliudan.net continues to get updated...so if you've not been for a visit in a while take a look.
see you all down the road a bit.
Great American Irish Festival
What a weekend! The 3rd Annual Great American Irish Festival was in one word...amazing. Amazing in a few ways really...the bands, the crowd appreciation, the hospitality, the BIG FREAKING ELECTRIC STORM on Saturday.
We were about an hour or so from our set when it hit...and for my part I've never seen a churning pink and green sky before. Lightning struck what seemed like a foot away, the rain was driving, and the GAIF crew had it all under control...amazingly. A big thanks to them...this is really an amazing event!
Like all things, the storm passed, and we took the stage. The crowd support was just wonderful...we couldn't believe how many of you came over for our set with the other band on the line-up we were up against on other stage...THANKS! Thanks also to all of you for sticking around despite the early sound problems...turns out the system on our stage had some big bugs to work out after all that electrical activity...the sound tech was great and got us up and going.
The new CD "smoke and strong whiskey" is out...and has been well recieved thus far. The songs just seemed to choose themselves this time around, and we're happy to have the music out there.
If you haven't visited in a while take a peek at www.cliudan.net with the new facelift. As I understand it's a work in progress though coming along. Some new tunes off of the cd there also...
As always, thanks and see you all soon.
Hello Everyone...very much looking forward to seeing you all out at the
Great American Irish Festival this Friday/Satuday. We'll be on at 6pm
Saturday, bringing along a bunch of new songs and the first official release
of our newest album "smoke and strong whiskey" which will be available stage
side as well as a new t shirt design or two.
Come over, say hello, stay for the show...it promises to be a great time and
for many of you will be the first chance to see the new lineup and hear a
lot of the new material. Hope to see you there!
All the best!
A big thanks to all of you that made it out to the Munson Williams Proctor Arts Institute show last Friday. The crowd was just great and we had an incredible time sharing the music and stories with all of you!
It was Adam's first show with us, and he kept the bottom strong, as we enjoyed the heck out of playing an early fest season 90 min set of Progressive Celtic and Contemporary Irish material...more of the acoustacelt sound we love so much.
We'll be at the Pickled Pig in New Hartford, NY tomorrow night...Coleman's in Syracuse on Sunday...hope to see you there.
Hey Everyone,
We've been a bit busy the last week and change. 6/9/06 down at the Pickled Pig Pub was a good time, as always. Thanks so much to all of you CNY'ers that made it out for the show. We'll see you again soon.
Saturday the 10th found us all packed snugly away in a Scion and a Civic bound for Scranton, PA...another great night at the Banshee Pub. As always the crowd response was overwhelming and appreicative...we really love you PA'ers! See you soon as well...we'll have the CD next show...thanks to all of you that have been patiently waiting for it down south.
Friday the 16th found us on stage at Kitty Hoynes in Syracuse, NY...certainly one of our favorite spots. As always the staff was wonderful, the dinner excellent and the ginger ale the best around. We had a great night playing a lot of new material and really do apprecitate all the support from you CNY'ers that were out to help make it a great night...we'll be back soon!
This weekend we're working out our new top-secret bassist...or something like that. He'll be joining us for his first show with cliudan at the MWPAI 6/30 show...come on out and say hello to him!
See you all soon and as always THANKS FOR EVERYTHING...we'd be nowhere without all of you!
hey...
we never told you all about our Mem Day Weekend...
We had an amazing time playing a couple of nights down in the Catskills of NY at Darby's. East Durham was amazing in it's usual Mem Day madness. We had a blast enjoying the weather, having a walk, and taking in the odd session.
Darby's is a great spot for a tune, a story, a pint or a meal. Be sure to stop in some time. Tell Sean and Sue we said HI!
Thanks to all of you that came out...it was a great time in a new place for us with late night crowds that just wouldn't let up. The Prodigals were in for a bite, as were the Saw Doctors...always nice to run across some of the people you listen to yourself!
We'll see you all again sometime soon, and thanks again for all the downstate support!
Hello all!
A little update as we've been flying under the radar the last couple of weeks.
We've OFFICIALLY added John Gilligan...handling our congas, some vocals, the driver's wheel and moral guidance...how's that for a scary thought?
We are DONE with the new album...and it's being mastered and repro'd as we speak. Hitting shelves, iPods and all the rest any day now!
We're in the middle of working a ton of new material (the dirty rumor is we're actually practicing for a change!) and will be airing all the dirty laundry come Mem Day Weekend in the Catskills...hope to see you there!
All the best and see you soon!
HAPPY EASTER!
Just now getting in from a show down at the Banshee Pub in Scranton, PA.
The van rolled us all back home about 4:30 a.m...turns out that despite Andrew's creative thoughts on show routing, one night stands in Scranton aren't the best way to bring in the Easter Holiday...2 1/2 hours of sleep and than off to visit all the relatives...SORRY GUYS!
John Gilligan made the trip with us and spent the night behind a set of congas...Noah handled the driving...while Andrew and Paddy did the snoring.
It was a great night down at the Banshee, with a great and appreicative crowd that stuck around way past our bedtime! Thanks so much to all of you...it's always great to have a few songs and a few more stories with all the folks after a show! We'll see you all again in June!
We're off for the weekend with Andrew taking a trip to the CCE convention in Chicago to study under Liz Carroll and a few other greats. In the meantime, and with a little luck, the studio work will be finished up by this time next week.
See you all soon!
Hello!
We've been laying low and finishing up in the studio...almost done...no really we are.
It was great to see so many of you out for our show at Coleman's in Syracuse, NY last week...always a pleasure to spend an afternoon at this lovely CNY landmark with all the Tipp Hill gaels!
We'll be at the Banshee in Scranton, PA tomorrow night, with our old friend John Gilligan in tow. For those of you that haven't seen us in a while, John is now sitting in on congas...and you'll also hear him on the upcoming album.
There are a TON of shows we've not listed yet...just working out the routing and final details...so check back in a week or so...it'll be a lot less sparse!
By the way...there has been a TON of traffic at this little site in the last couple of weeks...so whoever the hell you all are stopping in to visit...THANKS...and come back soon...we hope to meet you sometime!
All the best and see you soon!
WHEW!Just rolled in, after a long and busy weekend out and about.
We started out the March madness (6 load-ins, 14 sets, nearly 20 hours of
play in two days) with a six hour long St. Patrick's Day show at Kitty
Hoyne's in Syracuse NY...the place was already hopping when we loaded in at
10 am...and it just got crazier. A big thanks to David Hoynes, his great
staff, and all of you Syracuse crazies that came out for the show.
We barely got our equipment out the door it was so jammed full, and hit the
road for our third annual St. Patrick's Day show at Glory Days in Herkimer,
NY. The crowd was great and we played well into the night...thanks for
coming out!
A couple of hours sleep and back at it, for an early afternoon private party
in Utica NY...the Utica Parade's Past Grand Marshall Reception. It was very
well attended and the hospitailty just incredible. Our dear friend Vince
Colgan had a set, then ours...than back on the road bound for Piggy Pat's
Pickled Pig Pub in New Hartford, NY. Festivities were in full swing as we
arrived (as it turned out the Pub had one the best Restaurant/Pub float
contest in the Utica parade eariler that day...congrats!) and we kept things
going until about 7:30 pm or so...then off again. We hit some weather on the
way to the pm gig, and had a record time on our load-in/set/check...with our
first tune started within 20 minutes of hitting the door! It was a rowdy
night down at Molly O's...thanks to all of you that made it out. A few (too
few) hours sleep and back on the road...bound for the North Country Goes
Green Festival in Watertown, NY. This was our second year on the bill up
North, and as usual the hospitality and sound support was excellent. Three
sets later and the run was over...and what a run it was. We're off the next
two weeks for some rest and prior commitments...but we'll see you soon.
We're just about through with the studio work on the upcoming album, with
just a bit more to do in the next few weeks...it's going to be good!
Just in from another great night at the Pickled Pig Pub. It was a wonderful night, and well-attended despite huge portions of this part of the state being without power due to downed lines and high winds. We had a great time, with our old friend John Gilligan sitting in the entire night on percussion as a bonus. We got into the studio on Saturday, and began laying down the tracks for the upcoming album...with a Nashville veteran at the board and cliuan on the mic's it promises to be an exciting project with many suprises and a few unexpected twists! Next weekend promises to be a great one with shows in PA and Albany...see >you then! Also, for those of you so inclined...if you get a chance...www.myspace.com/cliudan
Another great night at the pickled pig pub last night...they'd built a nice stage since we'd last been in! A big thank you to everyone that came out. It was a nice crowd, and a good time. We played a ton of tunes, and a handful of the tunes on our upcoming album. Speaking of which...we spent most of Saturday in the studio, and it's sounding really good. We're really excited about this one...it's easily our best work yet. We'll be all over creation this weekend coming for the usual March madness...check our schedule for full details. See you soon!
Just getting back in from a weekend out and about.and what a weekend it was! We started things off Friday night, piling into the rental van for the haul down to Scranton PA for our return show at The Banshee Pub. The weather held, we made good time, and rolled into a full house at the Banshee.thanks to all of you that made it out for the show.we'll see you again in April. A few hours sleep in what just may be the worst hotel we've ever put up in, and we were back in the van bound for an early afternoon load-in in Albany, NY. We arrived in Albany, again with good weather for traveling, and started setting up for the nights show with The Makem Brothers and Greenwhich Meantime. The show was a benefit concert, and we were thrilled to be a part of the bill. It was an honor to play support for these two great acts. The hall filled quickly and stayed packed to the last tune, and then some. A big thanks to Matt Nelligan of Altamont's Irish 2000 ( an excellent fest Sept 16 this year...see you there) for having us out, and to all of you good folks that came out for the show.and what a show it was! Further thanks to Glenn Forrester for all the sound assistance and to the other two acts for all the great tunes over the years. It was great catching up with a few of you, and meeting the rest of you...See you all again soon!

We played a last minute show at Kitty Hoynes last night...sorry for the short notice and a huge thanks for all of you that came out, as well as a thanks to David Hoyne and his great staff. If you've never been, Kitty Hoyne's is one class pub with a great selection of drinks and grub...and you can't beat the atmosphere...stop in sometime at Kitty Hoyne's in downtown Syracuse, NY. Paddy couldn't make it down for the show so our friend Jess Voce sat in for most of the night, and kept the beat strong. It was a great time at one of our favorite spots... We spent the rest of the weekend bashing out the arrangements for the upcoming album and sitting down with our buddy Taylor Farmer, who'll be playing cello on a number of the tracks...but you'll just have to wait a while to hear it. We'll be in the studio the next month laying it all down. We're at the Pickled Pig Pub this Friday 5:30-8:30, come on down for the craic and stay for the BBQ...hands down the best grub around! See you all soon.
Just in from another great show at CNY's newest little Irish Pub....The Pickeled Pig in New Hartford, NY. The place was just jammed stinkin packed before we were even 1/3 into our first set and stayed that way all night...we had to wait a while just to load out for lack of elbow space! I big THANK YOU to all of you that made it out to catch the show...plenty of old friends including our "biggest fan" Kevin...sorry Kevin, you said it! So many new faces and old friends... Nice to catch up and meet all of you. We'll be back soon.
Just now comming around a bit after a long and busy weekend. We started things out playing
to a packed house at Kitty Hoynes in Syracuse, NY on friday. It was one rowdy and liscentious crowd to say the least!
We had a great time seeing everyone, having a few pints, a bunch of songs, and a great dinner.
We loaded the Vehicles, hit the road and got to bed at 2:30am. A few hours of sleep and back at it.
This time with
our first show at the Banshee Pub in Scranton, PA was a great time. If you've never been there before by all means take the time
to pay a visit. The place is gorgeous, the food excellent and the staff is great, say Hi to Lenny for us! We came off stage at 1am and started loading,
only to find it was friggin' freezin' outside. Ice Everywhre, Bald Tires, One very long and drowsy ride back to Syracuse, NY.
We got in about 5am and caught a few hours sleep before heading over to Coleman's Pub. A great crowd warmed up fast and was
downright rowdy in short order. We had a blast pulling out a bunch of old tunes. Some of which we hadn't played in a couple years.
Our good friend Jess Voce sat in for a tune or two on Conga... Its always great to have friends share a tune with us. As always, it was a great time with the
Tipp Hill Irish! A great dinner, a pint or so, and back on the road. Headed home for the night with another weekend behind us and day jobs calling.
Thanks to all of you that made it out this weekend. Some of you twice. SEE YOU ALL SOON!
We spent last night among so may old friends and family at one of our favorite spots. The Devereux in Utica, NY. It was a great night of old jokes, new songs, and a sit-in with our old friend John Gilligan. This was our last show for the year as we now turn our attention to our families for the holidays. There's no better way to finish out the year and celebrate the holiday season than with friends like all of you...THANK YOU EVERYONE.SEE YOU ALL IN 2006!
Just got home from our first show at CNY's newest pub.The Pickled Pig Pub which is the newest addition to Piggy Pat's BBQ in New Hartford, NY. We had a great time in this cozy little pub which was packed to the rafters with a great combination of old and new friends. We'll be back here soon, with a couple of shows in January in the works. The owners are proud to be running CNY's first "Irish Happy Hour" with live Irish and Celtic entertainment every Friday 5:30-8:30. And one more thing.the BBQ is out of this world so come for dinner and stay for the craic!
The Freedom For All Ireland Benifit Concert last night was standing room only. We were joined by the Highland Rovers Band from NYC/Connecticut...great bunch of guys by the way! The crowd was just about warmed up when they punched the night into full speed ahead with a great mix of originals, thoughtfully arranged classics and enough energy to damn near take the roof off of the place.
Be sure to catch them some time, and by all means check them out at: www.highlandroversband.com.
It was a great night of music, friends, family and most importantly thanks for a job well done...and this year the thanks went to a man named Brendan Moore for his ongoing and tireless contribution to the cause of Irish freedom. Brendan was this years recipient of the prestigous Father Murphy Award. A big thanks to the event organizers, as well as all of you that came out for the event...we'll be out again your way sometime soon!
WHEW! Just rolled in about 4:30 am this morning after spending the weekend on the road. This brought to a close our run of 7 shows in 13 days thank god for those little cans of caffeine drinks that taste like coffee!
Friday the 16th we played a great little spot called Paddy's Pub in Cortland, NY the dancing carried on into the night and the stout couldn't have been colder! Lots of good folks out that way, we'll be back soon to see you all again.
Saturday the 17th found us playing the Elmira Irish Festival in Elmira, NY, sharing billing with trad greats Traonach (these guys have been asked to play with the Chieftains in the past) as well as Southern NY all time favorite Pat Kane and West o'Clare. The AOH boys couldn't have had a nicer event, the crowd was great and again the beer was cold.
We finished our set, jumped in the cars and sped off for Rochester, NY to play a ½ Way Hooley at Johnny's Pub. WHAT A GREAT JOINT! We were blown away by the great atmosphere, friendly crowd, wonderful staff and superb hospitality thanks Johnny! The highlight of the evening was being joined on stage by a couple of founding members of Wild Geese (including our great buddy Eamon McCormack) and none other than Joe Dady sitting in on pipes for a few tunes what a night! To all you good Rochester folks THANKS AND SEE YOU AGAIN SOON!
We're nearly through our run of 7 shows in 13 days...it's been fun! A million thanks to all you good folks that made it out last weekend to the Devereux on Saturday, Coleman's on Sunday, or even both! Two of our favorite joints of all time in one weekend...
Our most recent release "whiskey on sunday" has gone into reproduction with the first run very nearly sold out entirely. It has been very well recieved by fans, fest-goers, retailers and Irish-radio alike...THANKS to everyone that has supported us in one way or another. Check back soon for a complete listing/links for stations currently playing cliudan!
Looking into the winter months we'll slow down just a touch...as we get back into the studio to start work on our newest album..."smoke and strong whiskey"...it should be out just after the holidays. See you soon!
The 2nd Annual Great American Irish Festival was, well, HUGE! Nearly 20, 000 people, three great stages, and more musicians than you could shake a stick at. We spent the weekend playing, taking in the great weather and shooting the breeze with some great folks like Larry Kirwan and Black 47, Seven Nations, Neil and the guys from Rathkeltair, the guys from Enter the Haggis, and so many more. Struby from Seven Nations and I went on a late night golf cart ride that culminated in us helping some dude move his enormous popcorn popper thing, what an Eagle Scout that guy is! All in all we had an incredible time...and really look forward to this event each year.
This was our second year there and we hope to be back next year. A special thanks to all you good folks that came out to catch us at the fest...it was great to see you all again. It had been too long for some of you, and not long enough for the rest...just kidding...sorta. Milestones this Sunday Aug 7th...one great music hall in Rochester...see you there!
